In late March 2017, Peacocke & Simpson successfully commissioned a Consep Acacia Reactor intense cyanidation and electrowinning package at Komet Resources’ Guiro Gold Mine in Burkina Faso. The package was installed to improve gold recovery, resource usage, and plant security.
Prior to installing the Consep Acacia package, the Vancouver-listed Canadian Junior used an FLSmidth Knelson Concentrator for gold recovery, with a Gemini table to treat the concentrate. The Knelson tailings were treated with downstream leaching.
The Consep Acacia is now the most technically advanced piece of process equipment on the 100 tpd high-grade Guiro Gold Mine, which plans to increase production to 200 tph before the end of 2017. It will be used downstream of the Knelson, eliminating the need for tabling of concentrates.
In addition to significantly improving gravity recovery (currently about 70% of head grade), the reactor will improve plant safety and reduce labour requirements by almost 24 man-hours per day.
In their quest for technical advancement and greater recovery levels and efficiency, a week after the Consep package came on line Komet commissioned a second, fully-automated FLSmidth Knelson Concentrator.
