PEACOCKE & SIMPSON CAPABILITY STATEMENTSAMPLE PREPARATION Our sample preparation facilities include conventional and impact crushers, batch ball mills of various sizes, pulverizers, rotary samples dividers and ultrafine grinding equipment. Naturally we use the Rocklabs range of sample preparation equipment. BATCH KNELSON CONCENTRATION Since 1987, Peacocke & Simpson has been proudly associated with FLSmidth (Knelson Technologies), formerly Knelson Concentrators, the recognised world leader in gravity concentration. Our FLSmidth (Knelson Technologies)-certified lab is equipped with KCMD 3, 4.5 and 7.5 semi-batch concentrators, all of which have variable speed drives to provide up to 200G of centrifugal force. We undertake all forms of Batch Gravity process testing for precious metal recovery, from stream tests on coarse crushed ore or placers, to high-G testing of products at less than 15 micron particle size. Our Gravity Recoverable Gold (GRG) test procedures allow us to simulate and model FLSmidth (Knelson Technologies) circuits at plant scale, to enable optimal circuit design and/or to optimise existing circuits. CONTINUOUS KNELSON CONCENTRATION The Continuous Variable Discharge (CVD) technology takes FLSmidth (Knelson Technologies)‘s world leadership in gravity concentration beyond precious metals, which require only very small mass yields. The CVD allows mass yields up to and beyond 50%, enabling enhanced gravity concentration of base and industrial minerals, gold sulphides and other heavy mineral species. CVD technology can ultimately only be proven and scaled up by pilot process testing, for which we operate a KC-CVD6 pilot plant. OTHER GRAVITY CONCENTRATORS Our Lab is equipped with various other gravity concentrators that are used in conjunction with or instead of Knelson equipment where they are appropriate or provide a tangible benefit. Our first loyalty is to our clients, and we use the most suitable equipment and techniques to attain the best solution. These devices include mineral spiral concentrators for relatively coarse particle separations, Mozley Multi Gravity Separation for extremely fine particles and a variety of shaking tables that still find application in minerals processing, nowadays most commonly for upgrading primary gravity concentrates. ULTRAFINE GRINDING The FLSmidth VXP vertical stirred mill allows ores and process products to be ground to particle sizes as low as 15 microns, opening new doors for liberation of finely-disseminated minerals. Peacocke & Simpson operates a 2-litre VXP mill and Malvern Mastersizer that allows us to investigate the effect of ultrafine grinding on subsequent mineral recovery processes, including reagent consumptions, oxygen demand in leaching, recovery kinetics, and so on. LEACHING Peacocke & Simpson’s mineral and process testing laboratory is capable of undertaking testwork on heap/column leaching, vat leaching, bottle roll leaching, stirred pulp leaching and pressure attrition leaching. FLOTATION Peacocke & Simpson often applies innovative thinking to flotation testing, for example flotation in association with gravity concentration or ultrafine grinding to add the edge to a widely applied process. ANALYSIS Our EDAX XRF allows us to analyse many samples rapidly in-house, enabling test programs to be adapted and updated with immediate effect. Our microscope imaging facilities allow us to examine test products, assess particle sizes of valuable and gangue minerals, determine liberation properties and, where necessary, adapt test programs accordingly and timeously. ROUTINE OUTPUT TESTING Routinely testing the output of a plant is a vital, and often undervalued, part of any existing mine’s operations All around the world, mines and processing plants lose thousands of dollars, each day, simply by operating at fractions of a percent lower than their optimum yield. At Peacocke & Simpson we believe it is critical that ore samples are routinely tested – if only once per year – to ensure that existing processes and expectations still apply, and/or to reveal behavioral changes and allow adjustment of plant parameters. MAGNETIC SEPARATION Magnetic separation is a powerful tool for mineral processing, particularly with relatively recent technology developments such as super-powerful rare-earth magnets. Peacocke & Simpson employs a range of hand magnets of various intensities for simple separations and mass balances and has a close working relationship with Eriez RSA for more complex needs.
